COLUMBIA, S.C. — Some students in Richland School District Two could be zoned for different schools next year as the district considers changes to its attendance maps to avoid overcrowding.

With population growth in the neighborhoods they serve, district officials are exploring a plan to redraw attendance lines for 12 elementary schools, including Polo Road Elementary, Windsor Elementary and Catawba Trail Elementary.

“There can be definitely some positives that come out of it,” parent April Hayes said.

Hayes says the impact of the population growth is noticeable.
