Controversy over giving the COVID-19 vaccine to children has persisted since the beginning of the pandemic, and there are still strong differences of opinion.

KOAT health expert Dr. Barry Ramo has taken note of a difference of opinion between medical institutions on when to give the COVID-19 vaccine to children.

"COVID vaccines are safe and effective, and the COVID incidence is increasing," Ramo said. "The American Academy of Pediatrics is now recommending that infants between the ages of six months and two years — regardless of whether they had previous infections or a booster — be vaccinated. And for older children, if the parent deems it appropriate, they can go ahead and vaccinate their child."
