Former Police members Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have filed a lawsuit against Sting, seeking millions in allegedly unpaid royalties, according to a report from The Sun .
The 73-year-old musician, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, and his company Magnetic Publishing Limited are facing legal action in London’s High Court under “general commercial contracts and arrangements,” the report said.
“This has been coming for quite some time. Lawyers tried repeatedly to reach an out-of-court settlement but hit a stalemate,” a source told the outlet.
“Andy and Stewart decided there was no alternative than court, so they pressed the button. They say they are owed millions in lost royalties.”
The Police, formed in 1977, having achieved significant success before disbanding in 1984.
