AYDEN, N.C. (WITN) - On Monday evening during peak rush hour, residents came out in numbers to the Chicod convenience store based in Ayden to try their luck at what is now a $750 million Powerball jackpot drawing.
Thomas Moore is one Powerball player who’s visiting the area but says he’s playing tonight in honor of his mother, who recently passed away.
“I was just driving by on my way back to Greenville, I said my mom loved the Powerball, why not just stop and buy a ticket in her honor,” he said. “Feeling pretty lucky...I definitely feel like she’s looking over me so I’m using the grace of her and God and let’s see, hopefully good things come.”
So far, the game has gone 36 drawings without a jackpot winner, but others that WITN spoke to say they’re feeling lucky.
