EUGENE, Ore. – On Monday, the Eugene Airport launched its partnership with GoodMaps, an indoor navigation app aimed to make travel easier for the visually and hearing impaired.

With voice commands, haptics and other features people with vision or hearing disabilities are now able to navigate through the Eugene Airport by themselves just by using the app GoodMaps. All they have to do is select their destination and the app will help get them there.

“I'm a very independent individual that I love to navigate as I can, and find the basics such as my ticket,” Kris Maher, a member of the American Council of Blindness, said. “If not a restaurant, a restroom, the basics of just getting around in an airport has been wonderful, phenomenal. And I'm pleased, so thrilled that this is going on.”
