GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Finding Filipino food in central Nebraska can be tough, but fairgoers got the chance when a Papillion couple brought their food truck to the Nebraska State Fair.

Greg and Lolite Carpenter own L&L Visayan Express, which serves Filipino favorites at events across the state. Their truck displays both an American flag and a Filipino flag, something they say reflects their marriage and the blending of cultures that inspired their business.

“We wanted to provide a taste of home for the Filipino population in the Cornhusker State,” Lolite said. “There’s a very large population of Filipinos in Nebraska. The community is surprisingly large, even in outstate Nebraska. We’ve discovered that there are Filipino families in places like Broken Bow, which really surprised us.
