JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A Jefferson County mother says her three young children were dropped off at the wrong bus stop — blocks from their home — with no parent there to meet them.

Patience Rivas told FOX31 her kindergartener, first grader and third grader were left about seven blocks away instead of their usual stop just one block from home. She said the bus driver refused to help, leaving her children to find their own way back.

“They were missing for over an hour,” Rivas said. “Honestly, that was probably the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. You trust a bus driver with the care of your child, and for them to just be let off at the wrong spot with no parent — it was shocking.”

Rivas said she called the bus depot several times for answers and eventually contacted police.
