ANDALE, Kan. (KSNW) - State champions: a title many high school teams aspire to have, but for a team like the Andale Indians, it's an expectation. Considered an absolute powerhouse in 3A, the school has won state five times in the last six years.
A significant credit to Andale's success is head coach Dylan Schmidt, who will be putting on the headset for his ninth season with the program.
Last year, of course, marked another undefeated season for the Indians, who won 11 of their 13 games by 30 points or more. One of their most dominant wins came against Clay Center in the playoffs, where Andale went on to win 74-nothing.
Schmidt says the team's success comes down to three factors:
