LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Football has awarded 10 Husker defensive players with “Blackshirts” ahead of the season opener. Black jerseys are given to Nebraska’s starting defense for practice during the season.

The black jerseys or “Blackshirts” signify a starter on defense. Nebraska has carried on the tradition since 1964.

The Week 1 “Blackshirts” for Nebraska are:

Malcolm Hartzog Jr. (SR. Safety)
