HENDERSON, KY. (WFIE) - Ellis Park’s 25-day meet wrapped up, yesterday, and it was another record-setting summer, at the Old Pea Patch.
The track generated a whopping, $77 million, in all-sources handle, which is a six percent increase, over last year’s record profit. “All sources handle” means that the money came in, from wagering at the track, and also from bets taken via simulcast wagering, from other tracks and casinos.
Along with the strong profit, a record $18.7 million dollars in purse money was awarded this meet, which was an increase of over 3 million dollars, compared to last year.
“It’s really spoken volumes of who’s competed here this summer at Ellis Park. We’ve had some of the nation’s leading owners, trainers, and jockeys here this summer,” said Kevin Kerstein, with Ellis
