LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
There are still no plans for the sale of Mid City Mall, and metered parking won't be coming to the Highlands anytime soon.
Some businesses in the Highlands are concerned about the possibility of additional metered parking in the neighborhood. The Parking Authority of River City recently conducted a study looking at adding more than 320 paid spots.
Officials believe the meters, which would run along a 2.3-mile stretch along Bardstown Road and Baxter avenues, could bring in a little more than $285,000 a year.
However, some businesses said they were worried the metered parking could deter business. Councilman Ben Reno-Weber says no plan has been solidified yet and is not specifically for the Highlands but could be implemented city-wide.
