A woman in San Bernardino County was shot and killed by her estranged husband who then took his own life, authorities announced Monday.

The tragic incident unfolded on Aug. 22, according to the officials with the Upland Police Department.

Officers responded to the home about 8 p.m. for an “unknown trouble call,” UPD said in a news release posted to X, and discovered the husband and wife lying next to each other, each suffering from gunshot wounds.

The male was declared dead at the scene.

“The female victim was still fighting for her life and was rushed to a trauma center where she was placed on life support,” police said. Unfortunately, the female victim passed away from her injuries the next day.”

During the investigation, it was learned that the couple was going through a separation
