MISSOULA — On Monday night, after a lengthy discussion, the Missoula City Council voted to reduce the speed limit by Lowell Elementary School from 25 miles an hour to 15 miles an hour.
“When things are going on at Lowell School or the park next to it and there are cars everywhere, it is tough to see. And I think that 15 miles an hour in that scenario is perfectly reasonable,” said Missoula City Council member Mike Nugent.
Much of the council members’ discussion was centered around whether the speed limit for the area should be the staff-recommended 20 miles per hour or 15 miles per hour, the latter of which ultimately succeeded.
