ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Bad news from the National Championship Air Races happening in Roswell next month, two of the seven race classes have dropped out of this year's competition. The Sports Class planes and the Unlimited Class will not be performing in Roswell when the event kicks off in just 2.5 weeks.

According to airshow officials, logistical and operational issues came up during their evaluation session earlier this summer. The two leagues of racers decided to cancel their involvement in this year's competition for safety reasons, but said they look forward to racing in the 2026 competition.
