The Colorado Supreme Court announced last week that it has declined to take up the case of a man serving a life sentence for felony murder for a shooting on Super Bowl Sunday in 2020 at a truck stop near Interstate 70 that left one dead and one injured.

Christopher Rizo, 35, is being held at the Buena Vista Correctional Complex.

Rizo was sentenced to life in prison in September 2021 for the killing of Thomas Huddleston Feb. 2, 2020. He was also convicted of shooting Thomas Huddleston’s brother, Bill.

The three had run across one another at a restaurant near the TA Express Truck stop at 2222 U.S. Highway 6&50 near I-70 exit 26 while watching the Super Bowl.

Prosecutors said Rizo had been kicked out of the restaurant for belligerent behavior, and later accosted the Huddlestons with a gun
