A shooting involving Denver police officers injured a suspect during a weapons-related call on Monday.

At around 8:20 a.m, Denver police responded to a man pointing a gun at motorists at West Alameda Avenue and South Lipan Street, according to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, who held a media briefing Monday morning.

Authorities did not say whether the man opened fire on any vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who allegedly pointed a handgun at officers, police said.

Thomas said officers opened fire at the man, before one officer shot at and struck the suspect five minutes into the encounter. At least three officers opened fire out of 10 officers who responded on-scene, according to Thomas.

No officers sustained injuries in the shooting, according to police.
