Japan Post has said it will stop accepting certain mail to the U.S. from Wednesday because of tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.

The company said its decision, announced on Monday is in response to the executive order signed by President Donald Trump on July 30 which terminated the "De Minimis Treatment for All Countries," a rule that exempted low-value items imported for personal use from customs duties.

Under the new guidelines issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), transport operators are required to pay customs deposits to CBP and prepare customs declarations. "These guidelines are not clear, however, making implementation difficult," Japan Post said.
