A local business owner described the atmosphere as chaotic, stating, "There are helicopters. It's pretty intense."

Principal Jill Gillies informed parents that they were advised to keep students indoors after being alerted to the incident. "We have plenty of movies and distractions for the children and will continue to follow police orders," she said.
