Verónica Echegui , the Spanish actress who starred in Apple TV+ series Love You to Death , Netflix ‘s Intimacy and had a recurring role in Sky series Fortitude , has died. She was 42.

Antonio Banderas and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez were among those who paid tribute to Echegui, who died on Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer, per newspaper El País.

Born in Madrid in 1983, El País reported that few in the Spanish screen community were aware of Echegui’s illness.

Echegui, who won a Goya Award for her 2022 short film Tótem Loba , most recently featured in Love You to Death , which was picked up by Apple TV+ after originating on Spanish broadcaster Atresmedia TV.

Premiering on Apple in February, the series starred Echegui and Joan Amargós ( Show Yourself
