Utah’s most recent measles cases have been discovered in Washington County.
Two school-aged children have tested positive for measles and their schools and parents have been notified of potential exposure.
Those unvaccinated or immunocompromised and potentially exposed August 21 are encouraged to stay home for 21 days.
Utah Health and Human Services reports these are the first new cases in Utah since July 21.
Symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes and a rash. Complications can include breathing problems, pneumonia, brain swelling, seizures, hospitalization, and death.
Exposed individuals should call their healthcare provider before going to a medical facility for evaluation and insure they are up-to-date on vaccinations.
