BRISTOL, Va. — For anyone planning a late-summer getaway, fuel prices both locally and nationally remain steady with many states reporting the lowest average prices during the past year.

Twenty states, including Tennessee, have statewide average prices below $3 per gallon for regular unleaded with Tennessee having the nation’s sixth lowest price at $2.77 per gallon, according to AAA. The Virginia average price on Monday was $3.06 per gallon, that’s nine cents more than last week.
