Frankfurt Airport is a haven for quadjet aircraft, particularly the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A340, and—to a lesser degree—the A380. Korean Air is the latest operator to confirm the return of the A380 to Europe’s sixth-busiest airport, as identified by Aeroroutes . It follows Asiana, whose highest-capacity equipment returned to Frankfurt in August . Korean Air owns almost 64% of Asiana.

According to Cirium Diio data, Korean Air's double-decker quadjets were last regularly flown to Frankfurt until March 2014. They're still due to operate four round-trip services in mid-September, which is, of course, temporary. As such, the return of regular flights in the upcoming winter is a significant development . More than this, it will be Korean Air's only regular A380 operation
