A Brit who has been accused of trying to smuggling 43kg of cocaine in the United States could be home in just one year.

Kimberley Hall, 29, was at Chicago O'Hare airport about to board her flight back to Manchester Airport, when she was stopped after officials found two suitcases containing the hefty amount of drugs.

She was later charged with possession with intent to supply and faced a long sentence in the 'States - one of which could have seen her incarcerated abroad for 60 years.

However, a plea deal will mean she will only serve a part of the maximum term she could have been hit with.

Ms Hall appeared at court yesterday (August 25), and had reportedly been expected to plead guilty in order to receive a reduced sentence of between four and six years, the Mirror reported.
