ATLANTIC CITY — Maintaining elevators and chillers that make the air conditioning cold.

Making sure escalators are working properly. Upgrading electrical wiring and lights. Replacing concrete in parking garages built in the 1980s, and ensuring that roofs don’t leak.

All this work costs money — lots of it.

And although much of it is never seen by the public, spending on infrastructure is an indispensable part of making sure Atlantic City’s casinos stay current and competitive.

“Since 2020, the Atlantic City casino industry has spent more than $1 billion on revitalizing its properties,” said Mark Giannantonio, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey and of Resorts Casino Hotel.
