A dog was fatally shot by police after mauling a resident in Dorchester on Monday.

At around 6:48 p.m., Boston police received a report of a person being attacked by a dog.

Officers assessed the scene at 7 Howe Terrace and later shot the dog, police say.

The victim had nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, police reported.

Officers called in Animal Control, but the dog’s injuries were fatal, according to WCVB .

A woman who lives in the same apartment complex on Howe Terrace described the dog as “aggressive” in an interview with the news station.
