LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Cigna Healthcare has terminated its contract with Norton Healthcare.
That means Norton Healthcare will no longer accept Cigna health insurance, which affects thousands of people in the Louisville area.
In a letter to patients, Norton confirmed the news, saying Cigna terminated its contract despite continued efforts to reach a solution.
Norton’s existing contract to be an in-network provider for Cigna will end on Sept. 8.
Patients will still be cared for, but they will be considered out-of-network.
Norton says they’re still working with Cigna to gather additional details and next steps for patients.
WLKY News has reached out to Cigna but has not heard back.
This is a developing story.
