PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Crews extinguished a dumpster fire outside a Portland elementary on the first day of school on Tuesday.

Just after 7 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in a dumpster at Chapman Elementary at 1445 Northwest 26th Avenue. FOX 12 had a crew their covering the first day of school and captured the flames.

Once crews arrived to the scene, the fire was quickly extinguished.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but school officials believe someone made a fire overnight and it reignited Tuesday morning.

No injuries were reported, and school was not disrupted and will continue as normal.
