When I landed in the U.S., the first thing that hit me was how much Americans have on their plate (literally). I consider myself someone who loves to try the local food from places I visit. Whether it's shark and bake on my home island of Trinidad & Tobago, or ceviché in Peru, there's something unique to explore anywhere you go. Where I'm from, 'American' food spans a wide range of options, from deli sandwiches that reflect the hard-hitting streets of NYC to a nice, flavorful Louisiana gumbo that'd have anyone speaking in broken French after a few mouthfuls.
