CASE UPDATE: In May 2025, Lyle and Erik Menendez were resentenced to 50 years to life with the possibility of parole. Due to that resentencing, they are now eligible for parole hearings under youth offender parole laws. In August 2025, the brothers' first bids for parole were denied . The brothers are still awaiting a decision on their habeas petition , although Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman has urged a judge to deny it. It is unclear when a ruling in the case will be made.
