ST. LOUIS — The Pirates will begin the 2026 season on the road against the New York Mets on March 26, the earliest start to a season in franchise history.

They’ll play three against the Mets with a built-in, weather-related off day before playing three games in Cincinnati from March 30-April 1.

They’ll return home for the home opener on April 3 against the Orioles. It’s the second time the Pirates have started against the Orioles in the last three seasons. The Padres will follow from April 6-8, concluding the opening six-game homestand.

Early road trips include a weekend visit to Wrigley Field in Chicago (April 10-12), a week-long trip against Texas and Milwaukee (April 21-26), a West Coast trip against the Diamondbacks and Giants from May 5-10, and a two-city trip starting in St. Louis
