ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- More than 100,000 children in Virginia have food allergies, according to Karen Braden, a nurse practitioner at the University of Virginia Health System. School is already in session for many kids, but she says it’s not too late to make a plan.

"You want to make sure that you meet with your children's teachers so that they know what the food allergy is. You want to know what the school guidelines are, what kind of forms they need," said Braden.
