The parents of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro were formally charged Tuesday with killing the child and falsely reporting that he had been kidnapped.

Jake and Rebecca Haro face charges of murder and knowingly making a false report of a crime in a complaint filed by the Riverside County district attorney. They are expected to appear in court later Tuesday.

The Haros were arrested at their Cabazon home on Friday, Aug. 22, and are being held on no bail, according to jail records.

Rebecca Haro first reported that she was attacked and that Emmanuel was kidnapped from a shopping center in Yucaipa on Aug. 14.
