The Co-op are rolling out a brand-new technology in their stores in the hope that it could save customers money. They're bringing in electronic shelf edge labels, which let customers “tap to join” its membership scheme using their smartphones.
The labels, which will appear below 100s of items, link shoppers directly to Co-op’s membership webpage , where they can sign up to unlock personalised offers and lower prices on everyday essentials like food and household items.
