An international student in Canada says she’s struggling after a “devastating” accident left her in a dire financial situation and in need of multiple surgeries.

Binisha Koirala arrived in Canada from Nepal as an international student, excited to begin a new chapter in her life. However, just two months later, the Scarborough, Ont.-based student ended up fighting for her life.

At 8:21 p.m. on Feb. 18, 2024, Koirala found herself in a collision involving two vehicles that left her in critical condition. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, where doctors had to remove 20 per cent of her liver. Her injuries were extensive: fractures in both her legs, a fractured skull, a broken neck, a dislocated hip, and a broken left hand.
