James Gunn is rewriting history to suit his own purposes. But it’s okay because it’s not the Smithsonian and he’s not the President of the United States. Gunn’s actually just retconned a show everybody liked from a cinematic universe many did not to fit into a new one. No big whoop, really, but it is very smart. When Gunn made his mark in DC movies and shows with The Suicide Squad and its follow-up, Peacemaker , the DCEU was a shell of its former self. So why not eschew the bits that tied it to the old and tie it into the new?
