President Donald Trump said during his Cabinet meeting Tuesday he's prepared to go to court to carry out his firing of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

Cook called Trump's firing of her "illegal" and said she will sue his administration to try to prevent the termination.

Asked about that during his Cabinet meeting, Trump was dismissive, saying, “You always have legal fights.”

"She seems to have had an infraction, and you can't have an infraction," he added of Cook.

"We have some very good people” in mind to replace Cook if she’s removed," Trump said.

Trump's unprecedented effort to fire Cook is likely to end up at the Supreme Court and could more clearly define the limits of the president's legal authority over the traditionally independent institution.

The president also slammed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, calling him "the wrong guy."

Trump said Powell “hasn’t done the job,” adding that he thinks the Fed chair is “not a bad person, but I do think he has motives.”

While he didn't elaborate, Trump said the economy would improve if Powell leaves his post. He also hinted that he might attempt more changes to Fed leadership, saying, “We’ll have a majority shortly” among the leadership ranks of the central bank.

Asked if his administration is weaponizing the government to target political opponents, Trump chastised the reporter for not doing her job.

"If you did your job properly, we wouldn't have problems like Lisa Cook," he said.

Trump frequently decries the administration of his predecessor, Democrat Joe Biden, for using his government to unfairly prosecute conservatives.
