A federal judge ruled as part of a lawsuit that the U.S. Forest Service met all its obligations to move forward with a commercial logging plan for nearly 3,000 acres in the White Mountain National Forest.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Laplante filed the 44-page summary judgment last week.

The nonprofit Standing Trees filed the lawsuit with the help of the Vermont Law and Graduate School’s Environmental Advocacy Clinic seeking injunctive relief.

The projects call for 880 acres in Tarleton and 2,220 acres in Peabody West to be commercially logged. Nearly 11 miles of road would be developed, according to the suit.

The lawsuit sought to find that the Forest Service violated the National Environmental Policy Act and National Forest Management Act and to vacate notices of decision.
