COLLINGWOOD — The Timmins Rock opened the 2025 Terry Geddes Cottage Cup with a 5-2 win over the Powassan Voodoos, Tuesday afternoon.

Philippe Lafontaine, a Timmins product who played for the Great North U18 League’s North Bay U16 Trappers in 2024-25, scored a goal and set up another to help propel the Rock to their initial victory of the 2025 exhibition campaign.

Travis Poan got the Rock rolling when he netted a first-period power-play marker 3:04 into the contest.

The Voodoos got back on even terms a minute and a half later courtesy of Heath Bradley’s even-strength marker.

Owen Head, who toiled for the North Bay U18 Trappers in 2024-25, then netted then put the Rock back in front 2-1, with Lafontaine earning an assist.
