For the first time in the team’s history, the Kahnawake Junior B. Hunters have won the Founder’s Cup national lacrosse championship in Calgary.

In a monumental sweep, the Hunters remained undefeated in the tournament after defeating The Coquitlam Adanacs 9-4 on Sunday. The team previously defeated the tournament hosts — Calgary Shamrocks 12-6 followed by defeating the Seneca WarChiefs 10-5. In their first two games, the Hunters defeated the Mountainview Mavericks 13-9 and the Nova Scotia Privateers 20-6.

Prior to them playing in the championship, travel concerns loomed over for the team as the Air Canada strike left the teams original flight from Toronto grounded with all other options fetching a price tag of five figures. Thanks to community efforts and support, the team was able to get
