KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. – After responding to a call about a dog locked in a car, Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies had to bust open the vehicle to rescue the dog.
In a post about the incident, deputies said that the dog was showing signs of overheating and was panting heavily and drooling.
One deputy got into the car by forcing the window down so that they could reach inside the car and open the door from the inside.
They took the dog into the shade and offered it water to help it cool down.
Deputies ran the car’s license plate to find the owner, but the registered owner said that the car had been sold. Officers left a note on the car and later found out that it was used in a theft at a Kingston Market.
The dog was reported to animal control for safekeeping.
