IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The University of Iowa is making game day easier to navigate for both fans and employees. Similar to using a keycard for a hotel room, tickets into Kinnick Stadium are now as simple as waving your phone in front of a monitor.

Stadium officials recognize several benefits to this new method, but the biggest goal they have is to eliminate fraud.

“Once in a while you’ll get bad actors that will take a screen shot of the barcode and go to Facebook Marketplace and maybe sell it ten times,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Jess Rickertsen.

By using this new system, fans can scan their own tickets. Employees will still standby to monitor traffic, but they expect the new method to move fans through Kinnick quicker than before.
