The Yankees took care of business in last night’s series opener against the Nationals, ninth inning notwithstanding. It’s officially at least a minor winning streak after a rough rivalry weekend. Now Luis Gil will try to make it three in a row while getting back in the strike zone and the left column against struggling southpaw Mackenzie Gore.
Gil, as alluded, was a little shaky in his last start against the Red Sox. While he only allowed one run over five innings, he walked five batters. Obviously free passes will always be a factor with Luis, but he can’t allow them to spiral out of hand, especially if he wants to go deep into ballgames.
