The University of Nevada, Reno hit a new record -- the largest group of freshmen ever from Nevada, Washoe County and Clark County.

The college, ranked the best in the state by online school database Niche , started its fall semester Monday.

Enrollment highlights

The total number of students enrolled at UNR for the fall semester is 23,801.

The number of new freshmen is 3,811.

New transfer students make up 1,112 students.

There are 3,822 graduate students.

In total, the UNR freshman class is its largest since 2015 with enrollment of more than 3,800 first-year students.

It is the largest incoming class of freshmen from Nevada with 2,946 students, a jump of 13% from last year. The prior record was in 2018.
