At press time Tuesday, the Santa Ynez girls volleyball team had played six matches and won the first five of them.

After a 2-1 showing at the Cardinal Classic at Bishop Diego High School last weekend, Santa Ynez was to host Santa Barbara Tuesday then play at Righetti in a pair of non-league matches.

Sophomore Scarlett Ollenburger has played a big part in the Pirates' early success. At press time, Ollenburger led the team in service aces with 22 and digs with 52. She was second on the team behind Scotty Losson in kills with 44. Losson had 47 kills at press time.

Losson is one of eight Santa Ynez juniors.

Santa Ynez has been a big serving team, with 52 aces compared to 44 errors in the team's first six games. Lila Cassidy had 21 aces at press time.
