Miami is one city for most, but for Metris Batts-Coley, working here often feels like living in two.
As president of the Miami Woman’s Club and executive director of the Overtown Business Association, she regularly steps between two different communities. But in her eyes, both organizations have the same mission.
“I don't feel that I'm on two opposite sides of the world,” said Batts-Coley. “The goal is to tell our history, preserve our story, and make sure that we meet the needs of the community. The woman's club does it one way, the Overtown Business Association does it a different way. And I'm in the middle of trying to balance it.”
