The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers led a walkthrough of Eliot Arts Magnet Academy on Monday morning, marking a milestone of sorts amid the Eaton fire recovery: preserving beloved parts of the school and the end of a massive debris removal.

The school, which provides an arts-filled education for sixth- through eighth-graders, was partially burned down in the January Eaton fire, leaving students, faculty and staff to relocate to McKinley School of the Arts in Pasadena, nearly three miles away.

But on Monday, community leaders got a dose of hope as they assessed the progress of what has been a three-phase project that began at the end of June and finished two weeks ahead of schedule, according to team members.
