PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia House Democrats launched their “Standing Up For Virginia” in the Tri-Cities on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, House of Delegates Speaker Don Scott joined other key Democrats for a town hall in Petersburg.

“Bodily autonomy is on the ballot," Scott said. "Public education is on the ballot. An opportunity economy for every person -- no matter your race, religion [or] creed -- is on the ballot."

Scott said that, if Democrats maintain their majority in the House, they will focus on bringing down costs for Virginians.

“Every time I talk to folks right now, I'm hearing about this affordability crisis, and we have to respond to it in a real way," Scott said. "We have to make sure that we get real wages up. We have to be able to support labor unions."
