WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Students across Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools continue to protest hundreds of job cuts, with many walking out of class to demand their voices be heard. At Tuesday night’s school board meeting, those students brought their concerns directly to district leaders, joining teachers and community members speaking out against the cuts.

Students lined up at the top of the lawn, just feet from the building where decisions are made, cheering and holding signs as they prepared to speak in front of the board.

"Everyone says that they care about our voice. Our voice is continuously dismissed and continuously not heard," Riley Gordon, a junior at Atkins High School who helped organize her school’s walkout, said.
