ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
A student accused of trying to bring a gun onto Del Norte High School was in court Tuesday.
A judge decided to hold the 15-year-old girl in juvenile detention.
On August 20, the girl and a 15-year-old boy were arrested near Del Norte High School. According to police, the girl stole a firearm from a family member and then headed toward the school campus. When approached by authorities, officers said she handed the weapon to her boyfriend.
"The gun is not found on her. It's found on a codefendant. I think that is important that no point in time and anywhere within this affidavit for arrest is there any allegation that she herself is in possession of a firearm," said Lauren Miller, the teen's public defender.
