WESTFIELD, New York — Absolute Care of Westfield will close its doors on Oct. 20, leaving 66 residents in need of new homes and 113 employees searching for new jobs.
The McGuire Group, which owns the facility, said months of lease negotiations with its landlord ended without agreement, forcing the decision to shut down.

“This was not an easy decision, and we recognize the impact it has on our residents, families, employees and the broader community,” the company said in a statement. “We worked tirelessly to prevent this closure.”
Employees were informed of the plan on Monday, according to nurse Becky Shioleno, who has worked at the home for 13 years.
